A standard definition of the term Myofascial; Of or relating to the fascia surrounding and separating muscle tissue.
Myofascial Release Therapy is the treatment of the myofascial system of the body. One of the leaders in this field is John F. Barnes, PT. for more information on what Fascia is visit his website at:

Dr. Barnes is a leading practicioner and teacher of Myofascial Release Therapy. I would like to include here a brief exerpt from his website about Myofascial pain:
"Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)"

My training in Myofascial release is not as extensive as I would like it to be. Unfortunately training with the MFR Treatment Center is extensive and costly. It is my hope to begin attending their seminars in the future. I will need the funding and time available to take these courses. It can take a therapist years to complete their available workshops. It has been a goal of mine for a while to learn from such a prestigous wellness center.
